Career Day

Today was Career Day!  Miss Pomazal’s class came over to listen to different parents speak about their jobs.

First, Mr. Hilgenberg spoke about being a machinist.  He works to make different parts, for example a stock for a rifle.

Next, Mr. Henry spoke about working for BNSF.  He climbs very tall towers to repair them.  He once climbed a tower that was 1,200 feet high!

Then, Mr. Brewster spoke about being in the Army.  He visited Iraq, Kuwait, Korea, and soon he will visit Africa.  His favorite country was Korea, and his favorite food was Korean food.

After that, Mr. Shreeves spoke about being a farmer.   He plants corn and soybeans.  He also raises cattle.  We learned that farming can be dangerous!

Last, Ms.  Miles spoke about being a paraprofessional at Galesburg High School.  She loves to learn with her students, and she is good at helping kids.  We learned so much, and we loved Career Day!

Nonliteral language

Today I am going to teach you all about non literal language. The first nonliteral language is its rainy cats and dogs. It really does not mean that it is raining cats and dogs. Then there is one that is she was as nervous as a cat. It does not mean that she is a cat it means that she was jumpy like a cat but not a cat. That is some sentences about nomnliteral language.

Prefixes

Some days we have homework and we have a spelling test so we write some of our words on a paper.  Prefixes are some words like this preheat, misunderstood, inactive, and many more but we are learning words that start with pre, mis, and in. It is so fun. I hope when your in third grade you will have Mrs. Keever and you learn prefixes! Thanks for reading.
